Maritime Law

Florida has one of the largest boating populations in the country bringing with it legal problems in the form of boating collisions, passenger and crew accidents, boat purchase and repair issues and other specialized concerns.  Our attorneys have extensive expertise in the investigation and handling of boating injuries, vessel collisions, and other marine accidents as well as maritime commercial litigation in federal and state courts.

Mark Hruska, an avid diver himself, is an expert in scuba diving matters with a long-time, worldwide representation of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), having supervised scuba and boating accident investigations and trials throughout the world. He has routinely defended boat operators, diving instructors, PADI training facilities, scuba diving equipment manufacturers and others.

Steve Schwartz has acted as legal advisor to marine insurers, vessel operators, yacht brokers, and marine towing and salvage companies.  In the 1980’s he served as the national claims manager and general counsel for BOAT/U.S. (Boat Owners Association of the United States) where he supervised the handling of  thousands of recreational boating property and injury claims.

Marc Tannen has represented injured boaters, longshoremen, stevedores, shrimpers, and their families in bodily injury and wrongful death claims for three decades in both federal and state courts under general maritime law principles.

The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely upon advertisement. Before you decide, ask the attorney to send you free, written information about qualifications and experience.
